Advertising performance across Google and Instagram: the current month, the previous month, and what changed between them.

Current report  ·  16 August to 23 September 2026

The two headlines

17
Leads from the new Instagram campaign since 10 Sep  /  AED 33 each
185,686
Google Shopping impressions  /  up 113% on last period

Three things defined this period. A properly structured lead campaign was built, went live on 10 September, and has since produced 17 leads and 225 profile visits on AED 684 of spend, rather than clicks that go nowhere. Google Shopping kept compounding, with impressions up 113% and the cost per click falling. And the website was structurally rebuilt for search: all 17 collection pages now have a heading, a description and structured data where in August they had none of the three, 65 Persian rugs were moved off a URL that said "tapestry", and six new pages were created from stock that was already in the catalogue but had nowhere to live.

The one thing holding Instagram back is unchanged from last month. Spend fell 46% because the prepaid balance ran down, which is why reach and click volume are lower across the board. Note that this report covers 39 days against the previous 32, so the percentage changes below slightly understate the gap.

Read the volume drop against the spend drop, not on its own. With 46% less budget the account still improved the metric that measures creative quality: the link click through rate rose to 1.83%. The audience is responding better than last period, there is simply less money reaching them.

What is running now

Two campaigns are live. Both were built this month and went live on 10 September, so the figures below are 14 days of delivery, not the full reporting period. This is the first time the account has been asked to produce enquiries rather than traffic.

IG Engagers is the result of the month. Seventeen leads and 225 profile visits in 14 days, at AED 33 per lead. For a business selling pieces at a median of around AED 9,500, a lead at AED 33 is comfortably the most efficient thing in the account.

Instagram Visits: Dining room has now run a full fortnight since 10 September. Its 3.86% click through rate is more than double the account average and it has held that rate as spend scaled from AED 53 to AED 131, which is the harder test and it passed.

The remaining AED 565 of the period's Instagram spend went on boosted posts that have since been paused. What they taught us is below.

What the creative told us

These posts have all been paused, but the pattern in them decides where the next budget goes.

The clearest signal in the account The Murano sconces post pulled a 4.32% click through rate at 10 fils per click, the cheapest and joint best in the account. It received AED 5 of budget.

The two mood led posts, "the secret to a room that feels" and "vintage pieces on our wishlist", took AED 162 between them and converted at 0.82%, the worst in the account.

This is the same lesson the Persian rugs post gave us last month, repeated: named, specific pieces outperform mood by roughly five to one. The new Dining room campaign is already following that pattern at 3.86%.

Shopping is the strongest thing on Google. Impressions nearly doubled while the cost per click fell, which is the shape you want: more visibility bought for less each time. That is the Merchant Center fix from July still compounding, now that all 321 products are eligible.

Search is the opposite and needs attention. It holds an excellent 14.32% click through rate, but clicks fell 14% and the cost per click rose 28%. It is paying more for less. It also carries the period's single recorded conversion, at a cost of AED 1,064, which is expensive but is the first time this account has ever measured one at all.

Worth saying plainly Google recorded one conversion in the period, and zero before that. That is not a sign the advertising is failing. It is a sign that Assembly sells offline, over WhatsApp and in the showroom, and Google cannot see any of it.

Until we know which enquiries turned into viewings and sales, every optimisation on both channels is aimed at cheaper clicks rather than at revenue. This remains the single highest impact thing that can be changed, and it needs the showroom rather than the ad accounts.

Website and search: the structural work is done

The SEO engagement began this period. The audit is complete and the first two waves are live. Three collection URLs were renamed, each with a permanent redirect in place and verified, so no existing link or ranking was lost.

  • No collection page had a heading. The theme was printing the collection name as a sub heading rather than a page heading, on every category page, while every other page type on the site was correct. A one line fix in the template. Google now reads a proper heading on all 17.
  • Collection descriptions were switched off. Not unsupported, switched off in a single setting. Turned back on, and all 17 pages now carry around fifty words of real description covering the weaving regions, the Murano glass types, the makers and the production licences. Those pages previously held nothing but photographs.
  • 65 Persian rugs were living on a URL that said "tapestry". A tapestry is a wall hanging. Renamed to vintage-persian-rugs. The lighting page was on a URL misspelt "lightning" and is now vintage-lighting. Both redirect permanently from the old address.
  • Two designer pages built from stock that had no page: Marcel Breuer, covering 19 Wassily and Cesca chairs, which is the second largest designer group in the catalogue, and Mies van der Rohe, covering the 8 Barcelona pieces.
  • Structured data added across the site. Collection, product list and breadcrumb markup on category pages, and full business markup on the homepage carrying the Al Quoz address and phone number. Only the showroom opening hours are missing, and those have to come from you.
  • Eight dead product links recovered. One of them sat in a carousel on the homepage and had been sending visitors to an error page. All eight now redirect to the right place.
  • One correction to our own earlier work. The art collection had been described as vintage and "period works". It is not. It holds original paintings by living artists, chiefly Damla Albayrak and Serap Taskiran. Corrected, because provenance is the thing Assembly sells.

The first evidence it is working. Google reports pages it had crawled and decided not to index falling from 51 to 28 since August, and total indexed pages rising from 351 to 372. That bucket is Google saying a page was not worth listing. Twenty three pages moved out of it after the first wave of titles and descriptions shipped, before most of this month's work had even landed.

Where search is starting from

A baseline was recorded before any change was made, so next month's movement is measurable rather than asserted.

The finding that shapes the next six months 44% of organic clicks are people searching for Assembly by name. The brand is working. What is not yet working is being found by people who do not already know you.

The clearest example: the category pages already receive about 2,500 impressions a quarter in Google but convert at 2.4% against a site average of 7.6%. Google was already showing those pages. They simply had no title worth clicking. That is what this month's work fixed.

One thing to sort

Flagged again The Instagram prepaid balance ran down during the period and spend fell 62% as a result. This was flagged last month and remains the single largest constraint on the account.

The lead campaign is producing enquiries at AED 29. Every day it is not delivering is enquiries not arriving. Moving to a steady monthly budget on a card would remove the problem entirely.

Next period

  • Move budget to the pieces that convert. The sconces post earned 4.32% on AED 5. It and the rug creative should carry the majority of the traffic budget, not the mood posts.
  • Scale the lead campaign. AED 29 a lead is the best number in the account and it is running on roughly AED 8 a day.
  • Give the Dining room campaign a fortnight and judge it properly. Four days in at 4.31% is promising but not yet proof.
  • A keyword DM campaign is built and ready. Four ads written around the sconces and the Lafer chair, with the full chat sequence, so enquiries start in the inbox rather than on a page.
  • Second wave of website work is already shipped. Page headings, business markup for local search and the designer pages for Cassina, Knoll and Le Corbusier are all live, ahead of schedule. Theme access turned out to be available all along.
  • Third wave: the two Murano buyer guides, rug sub pages for Tabriz, Kerman and Anatolian weaving, and putting the real maker into the product data so Google Shopping stops labelling every piece "Assembly Vintage" instead of Knoll, Cassina or Mazzega.
  • Needed from Assembly, and now the only thing holding work up: showroom opening hours for the local search listing, and close up photography of labels and markings for the Murano authenticity guide. Everything else that was blocked is now unblocked.

Summary

The month in one paragraph Instagram ran on 62% less budget because the prepaid balance ran down, so reach and clicks are lower. What improved is what matters: the click through rate rose, and a new lead campaign is producing qualified enquiries at AED 29 each, which is the first time this account has been asked to generate enquiries rather than traffic. On Google, Shopping impressions rose 79% to 155,468 while the cost per click fell, and the account recorded its first ever tracked conversion. Total media spend across both channels was AED 3,089. On the website, the first wave of search work went live: every category page rewritten, 26 product titles corrected, and four new Murano collection pages built from stock that was already in the store but had nowhere to be found. A search baseline is now recorded, so from next month the effect of that work is measurable.
